night2a David Lynch, Dangermouse, and Sparklehorse

Prior to the exhibit, seen, but not heard, seemed to be the album’s ill fate. Set to be packaged along with a book of Lynch’s photos and released early this summer, the album may never be officially released due to ongoing legal disputes with EMI. As a result, the book has been released with a blank CD containing the instruction: “For legal reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.” While NPR is currently streaming the entire album, its rarity and exclusiveness makes the exhibit all the more appealing and notable. While the album may be in an indeterminate period of darkness, after darkness always comes light – and, thanks to the exhibit, we can now be a part of it.

Dark Night of the Soul is now showing at the Michael Kohn Gallery through July 11. For more details on the exhibit visit www.kohngallery.com or www.dnots.com.
