In an environment where so many small farmers are driven out of business by agri-giants, BK Farmyards thrives by providing a unique, niche service that is low cost and creates incentives for everyone involved. Although BK Farmyards considers its mission a part of the larger urban local food movement, their enterprise is unique in its scope. The focus is small, decentralized networks of farms, which keeps costs low and cultivates relationships between growers and consumers.
As New Yorkers, it is our prerogative to transform our space in some way that defines us as individuals, carving out a meaningful existence within a sea of eight million people. For BK Farmyards, those small spaces are packed with beauty, nourishment, local economy, and limitless potential.
