You released your second full-length album, Don’t Stop, just a few months ago. How would you describe its sound?

Well, it’s a pop album. It’s actually a bit more moody than the first one. I worked so much more on the songwriting this time around, so I think if you listen to it, you can hear that it’s more melodic. And for me, I guess it’s a little bit more personal than the first one.

One important aspect of your music is that it’s often great to dance to. Do you operate with the specific goal of packing the dance floor?

Yeah! Some of the songs — “Songs Remind Me of You”, “I Don’t Like Your Band”, “Hey Annie!” — I made with the intention of trying to fill up a club. They’re more like party tracks. But I also have a couple of songs like “Heaven and Hell” and “Marie Cherie”, which are more like getting-home-and-taking-it-easy songs. More relaxed songs. I wanted to have a bit of both on one album. So you can listen to something after you’ve been in the club as well.

Is your interest in writing songs that will make people want to dance connected to your career as a DJ?

It’s been really important for me to learn how to make the sound good, and I’ve really been learning that from DJing. How you think about the bass [and] just the sound in general. That’s so important when you do music, especially electronic music.
