High Tech High, in Chula Vista, California is another school that made the grade. Designed by Studio E Architects and completed two years ago, this charter school with a project-based study program received gold certification from LEED for its sophisticated building management system and a photovoltaic roof that generates 80% of the facility’s energy needs. Thanks to a modular approach to construction, the building was erected for $175 per square foot. High tech doesn’t always have to mean high-priced.
