Lake|Flato Architects transformed a decades-old warehouse to create the new headquarters of the Austin, Texas-based Livestrong Foundation, a non-profit founded and chaired by cyclist Lance Armstrong to serve victims of cancer. The façade of the existing building was opened up to facilitate the entrance of natural light. Extensive recycling of discarded materials also helped to earn this project the prestigious gold rating from LEED to nicely match the ubiquitous yellow bracelets that have become the foundation’s trademark.
