I’m sure this comes up a lot, but unavoidably people will also now see this series in comparison to the dress worn by Lady Gaga that was made from raw meat. What did you think when you saw that?
If it was anyone other than Lady Gaga, I’d be a little upset, but I figure that’s something she would do. But it’s funny; I do tell people that our meat dress was pre-Lady Gaga. I think just the style of our dress; it was more fashion than just wrapping your body in meat, which is what her dress kind of looked like, so I’m partial to our dress.
Any ideas for wearable fashion that you have yet to pursue?
Ami and I have been talking about what our next project together is going to be, and we’re trying to think of something new to do with food, and maybe it’s something where the food is also part of the environment. So there’s nothing solidified yet, but we’re trying to bring it to the next level. We took these very graphic simple portraits of the people in the food, but now we’re trying to figure out how we can not only have clothing as food but also figure out a way to integrate that with the environment that they’re going to be in — looking at the implications of what you eat and how it affects the entire world.
