When deciding how to groom the line into a lifestyle brand, the couple went big by thinking small–small accessories, that is–quietly introducing handbags and small leather goods in 2006. R&Y Augousti bags focus heavily on clutch styles, and are handmade using similarly unconventional materials as the line’s eye-catching objets d’art: leather skins of sunsnake, python, and shagreen (stingray), among others, and ornamentation found in nature, such as mother of pearl, bone, bamboo, and feathers.

That vintage essence imbued in each piece turns a modern corner with sleek shaping and a sophisticated color palette, injecting plenty of edge to make them as ready for a night of downtown debauchery as they are for an afternoon of uptown lunching. That balance comes by no accident when the couple reveal which celebrity they are most inexplicably intrigued by: “Kate Moss now, Charlotte Rampling then”, Yiouri divulges, with a smile.

You can’t get any more “modern vintage” than that.
