Recent studies question whether there is any carbon advantage at all to using gas over coal when taking into account the full impact of obtaining and transporting it.  Whether or not that ultimately proves to be true, natural gas does indeed present its own set of dangers and complications along with any potential rewards – the transformation of our wilderness into industrial sites among them.  Beneath the veneer of the slick commercials, there’s a more complicated story to be told full of unresolved issues and unanswered questions.  The deeper you go, the stronger the case is for digging deeper and the more important it becomes to learn more.
