Romain:
I work in a non-profit organization that produces animated movies and video workshops, atelier Graphoui. Apart from that I’m an independent editor and a “visual experimenter”.
At first, I made a video for the Screws Reworked project Nils made a few years ago. It was a really spontaneous visual creation I made in two days – and nights – over a lonely weekend.
Ana:
When I saw his creation and how it was made, I thought he was insane…
But the truth is that I was jealous and I wanted us to create videos together – even more insane! After that, we have seen several performances from Nils and met him personally.
Romain:
In October 2013, after a show in Germany, Nils proposed me to make a new video for the release of his new album Spaces. I was really busy at work and I told him that I didn’t have the time for the moment…. But during the show, I had a visual impression on one of the tracks, Says, … something about infinity and repetitions….
Ana:
When Romain came back, he told me about Nils’ proposal, and I told him we could find some time to work something together on this idea. One week later, we started the creation process.
So, this vision you had, about infinity and repetition, did it include the visual idea of ink dripping on glass, or did that come later as you developed the concept?
Romain:
The Ideas I had at first were only the repetition and the echo. It was with indefinite forms, echoing to each other.
